Quantum Reflex Integration (QRI)
Reflex Integration Using Low Level Laser

Quantum Reflex Integration, developed by Bonnie Brandes, uses acupressure points and patterns linked to the primitive reflexes. These points are treated with a low level laser, which can repair the neurological connection associated with each reflex. The primitive reflexes are building blocks for the development of coordinated movement, cognition, and behavior. They are automatic, involuntary reactions to stimuli and are essential for survival and development. As we develop, these reactions become integrated so we can use them when we need them, but they will not interfere with our daily functioning.

Many factors may cause these reflexes to not integrate properly or later become active again.

These include:
• Genetic Abnormalities
• Stress / Diet
• Birth Trauma / C-Section
• Environmental Toxin
• Insufficient Movement
• Accidents / Trauma

Most reflexes are integrated by the time we reach one year of age. If for some reason the reflexes do not integrate or become active again, the Quantum Laser can simply and painlessly integrate the reflexes. Quantum Reflex Integration can be used to enhance performance in all areas of physical and mental function. It is not only beneficial for children and adults with disabilities, but it can also be used to improve performance of healthy individuals in school, work and athletics.

Please watch Mary’s video below about the QRI and how it works and how we use it at ‘Ohana:

How does it work?
The low level laser with the QRI protocols has remarkable photochemical effects at the cellular level. The laser’s photons penetrate to several levels of tissue. Photons are absorbed by both the mitochondria inside the cell and the cell membrane. Stimulation of mitochondria increases production of ATP, which governs 80-90 percent of cellular activity. In the case of nerve tissue, the laser helps to restore the myelin sheath, which increases the speed and efficiency of impulse transmission. The QRI stimulates the reflex pathways and acupressure points with the intention of integrating neurological reflexes that have not matured. Correction of the reflexes may lead to significantly improvement in physical functioning and mental development.

Is it safe?
Thousands of studies have shown low level laser has shown to be safe and free of side effects. It is commonly used for pain relief.

How we use it at ‘Ohana OT:
This is a new and revolutionary modality that we use as a wellness elective service in addition to OT treatment activities to increase the speed of progress. Typically, we would do this as
part of a low stimulation relaxation session (low lights, music, deep breathing, calming visual stimulation)to help with self-regulation. It usually takes 45 minutes and the number of sessions depends on the individual child. Based on the data we have collected, ‘Ohana families see results after 8-10 full protocols.

Testimonials

“Under the amazing care of the professionals at ‘Ohana, my son is on track to overcoming many of his anxiety and sensory challenges.  While we waited for Occupational Therapy, we decided to start Quantum Reflex Integration (QRI).  Though I was skeptical of this new technology, I could not be happier with the results!  My son has already significantly made improvements just with the QRI alone.  Prior to QRI laser he was having 2 hour daily meltdowns, and refused to wear socks, underwear or jeans.  Just from the laser alone while waiting for his OT eval, he began wearing socks, underwear and jeans and was only having 30 minute meltdowns every other day.  ‘Ohana’s Quantrum Reflex Integration is absolutely amazing and I highly recommend it whether it is a starting point or used in conjunction with Occupational Therapy.”–Erika

“When Sophia started the Fast Track Laser Program she was having really bad separation anxiety and we couldn’t get her to go to school. Sophia is now doing amazing! She is so much more outgoing and participating in class. She also lines up outside with her class, which was our main goal. Our mornings are so much easier! Mornings before were a rough time with lots of crying and now they run much smoother. Everyone here is just great and Sophia just loves everyone”! – Debbie
