More about ‘Ohana OT:
We are an upscale, therapist-owned, pediatric clinic in beautiful Wenatchee, WA. The majority of sessions are in person with a small percentage done via telehealth. We are an energetic, fun-loving pediatric therapy team seeking an experienced occupational therapist and a certified occupational therapy assistant who want to make a difference in children’s lives and maximize each child’s potential.
We have a highly experienced and dedicated staff that provides cutting edge OT in our 6 state of the art sensory gyms. Our clients range from birth through 21 years of age. Primary therapeutic approaches include sensory integration treatment, SOS feeding, Zones of Self Regulation, listening therapies, NDT, motor learning, and biomechanical approaches. Some of the main areas we address are sensory processing, praxis, self-regulation, self-care, gross and fine motor development, visual perception, and feeding. We are unique in our commitment to evaluate and treat the whole child and partner with the important people in a child’s life. Caregivers are included in our sessions.
Our practice is 14-years strong and 100% occupational therapist owned! Our beautiful clinic houses the most advanced equipment available such as fully-equipped sensory gyms, SSP, ILS, and QRI laser. You will learn a lot as in-services and trainings are scheduled regularly. We emphasize personalized, hands-on treatments and foster a very family-oriented environment for our clients. You’ll love our amazing clinic!
We are looking for an OT and a COTA who are able to effectively work with children in a sensory gym, virtually, out of doors, and in the community. The best candidates are therapists with demonstrated leadership abilities, who are upbeat, organized, self-motivated and able to problem solve, and who want to be part of a team of dedicated therapists.
In the position, you will:
» Evaluate new patients in person and virtually (OT)
» Provide occupational therapy services to children birth through 21 in a sensory gym, virtually and in the community using the therapeutic approaches that best meet the child’s unique needs
» Design and monitor effective home programs, sensory diets, and recommendations for school, as needed, that meet the child’s needs and family’s capacity for follow-through
» Collaborate with parents to set functional goals
» Provide ongoing guidance, support, and education to parents, in person and virtually
» Participate in team meetings and workshops
» Participate in program development, such as summer camp programs and after-school groups
If the above sounds like you and fits the schedule you are seeking, please continue reading for details about what this position will entail. And don’t let the long list intimidate you – you will have support!
BEING SUCCESSFUL IN THIS POSITION WILL INVOLVE:
► Listening. Parents have much to say and rarely feel heard.
► Evaluating. Our clients often elude traditional diagnoses and labels. We dig deep to find the root of the challenges.
►Communicating. Gently and frequently communicating with family members regarding the signs and indications of progress in their child.
► Educating. Our knowledge and language is foreign to most parents. They need someone to tell them what has been happening with their child, what we intend to do about it, what to expect and when to expect it, and what they should do. And they need it in a language that they can understand.
► Administering and modifying. Your treatment techniques should be appropriate, valid, gradable, and effective.
► Assessing. Constant assessment of the efficacy of your treatment, in the moment of administering it, and in the moments, hours, and sometimes days that follow it.
► Reacting. Taking a corrective detour when a session isn’t going the way you intended, expected, or hoped for.
► Measuring. Measurable goals allow us to know if we are making a difference.
► Preparing. Constant preparation for graduation from our treatment allows families to feel better prepared when that bittersweet day comes that their child has met their goals and they are free to live a life without therapy appointments!
► Documenting. Effective documentation is clear, concise, measurable, and explanatory. (And we have streamlined processes to make it easier!)
